What is the ruling on opening a shop that sells women's underwear and employing men in it, and is their income from this work lawful?

There is no objection to opening a shop for selling women's clothing, provided that Islamic legal rulings are observed, such as avoiding the sale of prohibited items or displaying clothes in a manner that offends modesty. As for the work of men in these shops, the basic ruling is permissibility if the seller adheres to the Islamic legal guidelines. A distinction should be made between large stores where the seller's role is limited to accounting, which is permissible, and small stores that necessitate a woman discussing clothing details with the seller, especially intimate apparel. This latter type of work is not befitting for a Muslim who is keen on his religion, and he must distance himself from it due to the potential for fitna (temptation) and the hadiths that warn against the fitna of women. Therefore, the sale of women's intimate apparel should be in large stores or in specialized women's markets where women handle the sales.
