The questioner is thanked for his love for the people of knowledge and the callers to Islam, and for defending them and rebutting backbiting about them. This is one of the virtuous deeds for which its doer is hoped to be saved from the Fire on the Day of Resurrection, as evidenced by the hadith: "Whoever defends the honor of his brother from backbiting, it is a right upon Allah to free him from the Fire," and the hadith: "Whoever defends the honor of his brother, Allah will defend his face from the Fire on the Day of Resurrection." As for whoever speaks about a believer with something that is not in him, it is feared for him that Allah will make him dwell in Radghat al-Khabal until he retracts what he said, as evidenced by the hadith: "Whoever says about a believer what is not in him, Allah will make him dwell in Radghat al-Khabal until he retracts what he said."
