What is the wisdom behind the marriage of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to Lady Aisha, may God be pleased with her, when she was nine years old?

The marriage to Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, was to strengthen the bond with Al-Siddiq Abu Bakr. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, married her when she was six years old, and consummated the marriage with her in Shawwal, seven months after the Hijra, when she was nine years old. She was a virgin, and he did not marry any other virgin besides her. The consummation of the marriage was delayed until she was nine years old because at that age, she would be a woman capable of intercourse and childbearing.
