The Night of the Camel was named after the night when Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) sold his camel to the Prophet (peace be upon him) during a journey, on condition that he could ride its back to Medina. On that night, the Prophet (peace be upon him) sought forgiveness for him twenty-five times.
