Is it permissible for men to wear pink clothes?
The basic ruling concerning clothing is permissibility. Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on a man wearing three colors:
1. Pure red: The preponderant opinion is that wearing it is permissible, because the hadiths indicating its permissibility are more authentic and firmly established than the hadiths of prohibition. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, himself wore red. 2. Dyed with 'usfur' (safflower): The preponderant opinion is that it is forbidden. 3. Dyed with saffron: The preponderant opinion is that it is forbidden.
As for other colors, such as pink, there is no disagreement regarding their permissibility, unless they constitute a garment of fame (libas shuhra) or are specific to women in a particular custom. In such cases, they would be forbidden due to the reason of fame or imitation.
