Is the reward of the prophetic hadith, "Whoever says 'Alhamdulillah' (Praise be to Allah) a hundred times before sunrise and a hundred times before sunset, is better than [donating the value of] a hundred horses loaded [with provisions] in the way of Allah," achieved if the dhikr is recited in the car before the time of sunset, or is it a condition to recite it immediately before sunset?

The Hadith which mentions the virtue of saying "Subhan Allah" (Glory be to Allah), "Alhamdulillah" (Praise be to Allah), "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest), and "La ilaha illa Allah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamd, wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer" (There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and to Him belongs praise, and He is over all things competent) one hundred times before sunrise and before sunset, has been graded as Hasan (good) by Al-Albani.

The intended time for remembrance before sunset is between the Asr prayer and sunset, as stated by Ibn Al-Qayyim, and that the proper place for these remembrances is after Fajr and after Asr.

The remembrance of Allah is legislated at all times, and if its prescribed time passes, there is no harm in performing it afterward. However, the general principle is that reward tied to a specific time is only attained within that time.

It was narrated in the Hadith of Umm Hani' that praising Allah one hundred times is equivalent to one hundred saddled and bridled horses loaded for the sake of Allah, and this was not restricted to the time of sunrise or sunset.
