What is the ruling on publishing and using paid books and programs after purchasing them once and then making them available for free?

Books with protected copyrights are not permissible for the purchaser or anyone else to publish or benefit from their contents, and infringing upon them is not allowed. As for books without protected copyrights, there is no harm in publishing them if their content is beneficial and does not contradict Islamic law.
