What is the ruling on a woman photographing her full face, including her ears—for the purpose of immigration—despite her aversion to it, and her husband threatening to abandon her and their children if she refuses?

Scholars have stipulated the obligation for a wife to obey her husband in moving with him from one place to another, as long as there is no Shar'i impediment to it. However, if the wife stipulated to her husband that she would not leave her country, then her condition is valid.

If you did not stipulate to your husband that he should not move with you to another country, then it is obligatory for you to obey him in traveling with him to the country he desires, unless you fear for yourself religious tribulation (fitna) and are unable to openly practice the rituals of your religion in that country. In such a case, you are not obligated to obey him; rather, it is not permissible for you to obey him then, for obedience is only in what is right (ma'ruf), and there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator.

However, if you are safe from tribulation and able to openly practice the rituals of your religion, then you must obey him in traveling. If this travel necessitates photographing you with your face and ears uncovered, and there is no alternative, then there is no blame upon you. A Muslim should strive to reside in Muslim countries.
