Will the fasting of the six days of Shawwal be counted for someone who fasted five days in Shawwal and fasted the sixth day in Dhul-Hijjah due to ignorance of the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah? And will fasting one day in Shawwal be counted if menstruation began an hour after breaking the fast, with no certainty of its presence a short time before breaking the fast?

If the fasting of the six days of Shawwal is delayed due to an excuse, it is hoped that the full reward will be recorded, as if they were fasted in Shawwal. This is based on the statement of Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen - may Allah have mercy on him - concerning the delay of making up Ramadan fasts due to an excuse.

As for seeing menstrual blood an hour after breaking the fast, it does not invalidate the fast, unless it is confirmed that it appeared before sunset, because the default assumption is the validity of the fast and purity.
