The answer

If the bleeding could be menstruation (i.e., after fifteen days from the cessation of the last period), then it is considered menstruation. There is a scholarly disagreement as to whether only the duration of the previous habitual period is considered menstruation and anything beyond that is istihadah (non-menstrual bleeding), or if the entire duration is considered menstruation as long as it does not exceed fifteen days. According to both opinions, the duration of theast period from the bleeding is considered menstruation, and fasting that occurred during it must be re-observed. What the questioner did by making up the days of her habitual period is correct and suffices her according to the Hanbali school, unless the bleeding persists and exceeds her previous habitual period three times.
