What is the ruling on a woman making up the days she missed in Ramadan due to menstruation, and what is the duration she must make up if she experiences bleeding again after becoming pure? Is it permissible for her to fast the six days of Shawwal before making up (the missed Ramadan days), and is it permissible to combine the intention of making up (missed Ramadan days) with fasting the six days of Shawwal or expiation for an oath (kaffarat al-yameen), and is it permissible to fast expiation for an oath every Monday and Thursday with the intention of both expiation and a supererogatory act (sunnat al-tatawwu')?

The blood observed by the woman cannot all be considered menses, as it exceeded fifteen days and was interspersed with a period of purity that did not reach the minimum duration of purity.

This woman is considered to be suffering from irregular bleeding (istihada). Thus, whatever coincides with her usual cycle or is distinguished by the characteristics of menstrual blood is menses, and anything else is istihada. She is only required to make up for the days counted as menses.

Regarding making up fasts, fasting six days of Shawwal, and consecutive fasting for an oath expiation, their rulings have been previously clarified in previous fatwas. It is preferable to fast consecutively for an oath expiation to avoid differing opinions.

There is no harm in fasting the days of expiation separately on Mondays and Thursdays. It is hoped that by doing so, she will receive the reward for the expiation and for fasting on Mondays and Thursdays.
