How can one sincerely repent and refrain from returning to sins, while restoring closeness to Allah and feeling His pleasure?

You must renew your repentance and strive to completely rid yourself of returning to sins. You must not despair of Allah's mercy and His acceptance of repentance, for Allah accepts the repentance of whoever turns to Him, even if the sin is repeated hundreds of times.
