Is ghusl and prayer valid upon seeing yellowish or brownish discharge in the last days of the menstrual period?

The yellowish and brownish discharges connected to menstruation are considered part of menses as long as they are not separated from the menstrual bleeding by a period of purity, indicated by seeing the white discharge (al-qassah al-baida') or complete dryness. This is based on the statement of Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her): "We used not to consider the yellowish and brownish discharges after purity as anything."
