Does a husband's angry statement to his wife, "You are like my mother for a month," intending to abandon her as a disciplinary measure, constitute ẓihār?

Scholars have differed regarding a man's statement to his wife, "You are to me like my mother," as to whether it constitutes ẓihār. The majority of scholars hold that if he intended ẓihār by it, then it is ẓihār, and it refers back to his intention. If he intended by it honor, respect, or age, then it is not ẓihār. Since you did not intend ẓihār, your wife is not forbidden to you. It is advisable to be deliberate and not hasten with such words.
