What is the ruling on watching and renting war films and real-life tragic stories that are free of prohibitions and do not hinder one from prayer and acts of worship?

There is no harm in watching films devoid of women and romance, which do not distract from duty or lead to the unlawful. The films must be free from distorting Islamic history, false doctrinal or educational concepts, and glorifying symbols of disbelief and misguidance. It is better for a person to occupy their time with what benefits them.
