Is it obligatory to immediately remove the sand adhering to the forehead after prostrating on a sandy ground, or should it be left until after the prayer, and is its removal considered movement during prayer? Is there any harm in leveling the place of prostration while descending to it?

It is disliked for the worshipper to busy himself with wiping away dust or pebbles from the place of prostration, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying concerning one who levels the dust where he prostrates: "If you must do it, then do it only once." Also, because he forbade wiping pebbles, and because that is a form of fiddling that contradicts devotion and humility.
