Was my stoning of the Jamarat incorrect because Mecca was on my right and Mina was on my left, and is a sacrifice (dam) incumbent upon me, and what should I do now?
The matter of casting the pebbles (ramy al-jimār) is broad, and the casting is valid if you complete the required number and the pebbles fall into the legally designated throwing area, whether you place Mecca to your right or your left, or face the or the Jamrah itself. The preferred way in this act of worship is for the one casting to place Mecca to his left and Mina to his right, if possible, because this is established from the action of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who used to cast them from the bottom of the valley, facing them, with the Kaaba to his left and Mina to his right.
