What was Al-Suyuti's creed, and is it permissible to read his works?

There is no harm in reading and benefiting from the works of Al-Hafiz Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti, for he was a scholar skilled in various sciences, and he has many indispensable works. As for his creed, he was an Ash'ari, but this does not mean that everything he presents is incorrect. Rather, his books are beneficial in fiqh (jurisprudence), usul (principles), tafsir (exegesis), and the like. However, regarding matters of creed, one should refer to the sayings of the Salaf (pious predecessors).
