Is the Prayer of Need (Salat al-Hajah) impermissible, and does it contain anything that offends the Islamic religion?

There is nothing in the prescribed Salat al-Hajah (Prayer of Need) that is detrimental to Islam. Rather, it is a poor creature's seeking of Allah's help and supplicating to Him to ease matters of his religion and worldly life and to ward off evils. This is a requirement of servitude to Allah, confirming His saying, exalted be He: "It is You we worship and You we ask for help" and "O mankind, you are those in need of Allah, while Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy" and "And there is not a thing but that with Us are its treasuries."
