How can one convert to Islam while having reservations about some of its rulings as a woman, living as a Muslim in the West, and considering family circumstances? Is there a minimum set of requirements for converting to Islam?
"The conditions set by a disbelieving woman who wishes to embrace Islam are not acceptable, such as not performing the five daily prayers except at the end of the day, or not accepting polygyny. This is because adherence to the rulings of Islam is a prerequisite for entering it. Furthermore, the narration concerning Thaqif differs from this situation, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, accepted their conditions because he knew that they would perfect their Islam, and this is a matter of the unseen. Therefore, it is not permissible to accept conditions from a disbeliever that contradict Islam, otherwise, the religion would disintegrate. Whoever desires to embrace Islam must adhere to all its conditions, because Islam is indivisible."
