What is the ruling on a husband having anal intercourse with his wife, and is it permissible for the husband to justify that by relying on the existence of a school of thought that permits it, or by questioning the authenticity of the prohibitive hadiths?

It is forbidden for a man to engage in anal sex with his wife. This is a major sin by consensus. Its prohibition is indicated by the Quran and Sunnah, and numerous authentic and good hadiths have affirmed its prohibition. In fact, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed those who commit such an act and called it "minor sodomy." What has been narrated from some of the early Muslims regarding its permissibility is interpreted as referring to intercourse in the front from the direction of the back, not in the anus itself, or it is a lie or an error on the part of its narrator. Scholars have unanimously agreed that the anus is not a place for intercourse and that it leads to physical and psychological harm between spouses. A woman must refuse this act, and if the husband insists on it, she has the right to seek a divorce.
