What is the ruling regarding someone who memorized the Qur’an then forgot it due to study circumstances?

Forgetting the Qur’an due to being preoccupied with worldly matters is blameworthy. However, memorizing the entire Qur’an is not obligatory, except for Surat Al-Fatihah. It is preferable for a student to combine regular review of the Qur’an with their studies. It is not permissible for them to neglect what they have memorized until they forget it. As for someone who has not memorized it, or has forgotten it, and finds it difficult to combine memorization with their studies, let them preserve what remains of the Qur’an with them and prioritize their studies if preoccupation with memorization would cause them to miss out on their educational opportunities. Then, they can re-memorize what they have forgotten after completing their studies.
