Vaginal discharge is considered pure by some scholars and impure by others. The more cautious approach is to wash whatever it touches of clothing or body. It nullifies ablution (wudu'). This discharge does not necessitate ghusl (ritual bath for major impurity). The causes for ghusl are: the cessation of menstruation and post-natal bleeding, sexual intercourse, and the emission of semen. If the discharge emitted after foreplay is semen, it necessitates ghusl; but if it is madhy (pre-seminal fluid), it is impure and nullifies ablution.
