Most of the Companions were disbelievers before Islam and then embraced it. Among them were many scholars, such as the Rightly Guided Caliphs (except for Ali), the rest of the Ten Promised Paradise, the wives of the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, the 'Abadilah, Salman al-Farisi, Abu Hurairah, Abu Dharr, and Jabir, may Allah be pleased with them. The history of Islam has not been devoid of scholars who embraced Islam after their disbelief, among them Sheikh Ahmed Deedat in the modern era.
