Is it permissible to study vocal مقامات (maqamat) without using musical instruments to improve one's voice in reciting the Quran?

Improving one's voice with the Qur'an is permissible, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) sayings: "He is not of us who does not chant the Qur'an beautifully," and "Adorn the Qur'an with your voices." The Prophet (peace be upon him) also said to Abu Musa al-Ash'ari when he heard him chanting the Qur'an, "You have been given a flute from the flutes of the family of David." However, this chanting should not exceed the bounds to become like the melodies of songs, as the Salaf disliked that.

Improving one's voice means reciting the Qur'an correctly, observing the proper articulation points and characteristics of letters, avoiding grammatical errors (lahn), and maintaining the rules of madd (prolongation), idgham (assimilation), izhar (clear pronunciation), ghunnah (nasalization), and other tajwid rules. The science of maqamat (musical scales) has no relation to this.
