What is the ruling on bringing young children to the mosque, given the disturbance they cause to worshippers, their loud voices, and their playing in the mosque?
Children in mosques are of two types: The first does not fidget or stops if admonished. It is permissible to bring him next to his father or a close adult, while avoiding the middle of the صف (row) due to the , "Let those of you who are mature and discerning stand closest to me." The second type fidgets and does not stop if admonished. It is not permissible to bring him to the mosque, and if he is brought, he should be removed, due to the disturbance his presence causes to the worshipers. This detailed explanation is the preponderant view among scholars, and the hadith "Keep your children away from your mosques" is weak and cannot be used as proof.
