How does an invalid who is bedridden and permanently catheterized for urine pray?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Prayer is not waived for the sick person as long as they are conscious, and they should pray however they are able, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Pray standing; if you are unable, then sitting; if you are unable, then on your side." If removing the catheter would harm them, it is permissible to pray with it, as Allah Almighty says: "So fear Allah as much as you are able" and "Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity." If they are able to remove it for some prayers, such as Asr and Isha, it is permissible for them to combine Dhuhr and Asr, and Maghrib and Isha, as narrated in the hadith of Hamnah bint Jahsh.
