Is a blood sacrifice (dam) incumbent upon one who followed a campaign sheikh during Hajj, and the sheikh performed incorrect actions during the rituals, such as not spending the night in Mina and moving directly from Arafat to Muzdalifah, knowing that the sheikh is responsible for the pilgrims?

Every Muslim must learn the rulings of the religion, especially those upon which the validity of their worship depends. Blaming others for mistakes is of no avail; rather, an excuse only serves to drop the sin, but the obligation in one’s responsibility does not drop except by performing it or its substitute. Whoever abandons an obligatory act of Hajj is required to offer a sacrifice (dam), whether excused or not. The proof for this is the saying of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them: "Whoever forgets something of his rituals or abandons it, let him spill blood (offer a sacrifice)." If you are unable to offer the sacrifice, then you must fast ten days, according to many jurists, by analogy with one who is unable to offer the sacrifice for Tamattu'. The first opinion is more cautious, and accordingly, if you are unable to slaughter the sacrifice, then you must fast ten days for every obligatory act you abandoned.
