What are the correct conditions for Hajj?

For Hajj to be obligatory, the following conditions must be met: Islam, sanity, puberty, freedom, and ability (istita'ah). Therefore, Hajj is not obligatory for a child, an insane person, a disbeliever, a slave, or someone who is unable. Ability (istita'ah) means having the financial means for provisions and transportation, good health, a safe route, and the possibility of travel. For a woman, the presence of a husband or a mahram is an additional condition.

These conditions are divided into: - Conditions for obligation and validity: Islam and sanity. - Condition for validity only: Performing Hajj in its designated months and places. - Conditions for obligation and sufficiency: Puberty and freedom. The Hajj of a child or a slave is valid but does not suffice for the obligatory Hajj (Hajj al-Islam).

In addition to the conditions of sufficiency, performing it oneself is required for those who are able.
