How can one atone for sins committed in solitude and for abundant disobedience to ensure God's protection for one's household, remove feelings of bad luck or lack of success in provision, and be certain of God's acceptance of repentance and seeking forgiveness?
If a servant is sincere in his repentance, fulfilling all its conditions, then Allah Almighty accepts his repentance and removes from him both worldly and otherworldly punishment. This is in accordance with His, the Most High, saying: "Do they not know that it is Allah who accepts repentance from His servants and receives charities and that it is Allah who is the Accepter of repentance, the Merciful?" And His saying: "And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons sins and knows what you do." In the Hadith Qudsi: "O son of Adam, verily, as long as you supplicate to Me and hope in Me, I forgive you for what was in you, and I do not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky, and then you sought My forgiveness, I would forgive you, and I do not mind. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth, and then you met Me, not associating anything with Me, I would come to you with forgiveness nearly as great as it." One must strive in repentance by regretting the sin, abandoning it, and resolving not to return to it, while having a good opinion of Allah and not despairing of His mercy, for despairing is a grave sin.
