The husband must help his wife in honoring her parents and maintaining ties of kinship with her relatives, and he is not permitted to prevent her from doing so. However, the wife's family must not interfere in her independent marital life, and their role should be limited to advice and counsel that serves the interests of both spouses. If the family spoils the wife against her husband, then the husband has the right to prevent visits that cause harm. He may also limit the relationship between his wife and her family to the extent that the harm is removed, without severing ties. It is not advisable to obtain a legal document (such as a restraining order) against them unless there is no other way to deter them.
