What is the ruling on supplicating for the blessing of beauty?

There is no harm for a Muslim to ask Allah Almighty for His bounties, including the bounty of beauty, as long as he does not transgress in supplication or pray for sin or the cutting off of kinship ties. This is based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, Allah is beautiful and loves beauty." However, one's concern should not be solely the beauty of appearance without caring for the beauty of character.
