It is necessary to avoid hanging pictures in the mosque or at home, due to the general prohibition against images, and because angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture. The prohibition is further emphasized if the subject of the picture is someone by whom people might be tempted, such as a scholar, a devout person, an actor, or a singer, or if the picture is of one's parents. It is safer not to hang them at all, to avoid the dispute regarding the impermissibility of photographic imaging, even if temptation is absent and hanging them does not lead to their glorification.
