To what extent does magic affect the heart, mind, and soul, and did Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib permit solving magic with magic?

Al-Bukhari said in his Sahih: Sa’id ibn al-Musayyib was asked about a man afflicted with a malady or prevented from his wife, whether it is permissible to treat him or perform a nushrah for him. He replied: “There is no harm in it; they only intend reform. As for what benefits people, it has not been forbidden.” Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar authenticated this narration from Ibn al-Musayyib. Sheikh Sulaiman ibn Abdullah clarified that Ibn al-Musayyib’s statement refers to a type of nushrah where it is not known whether it is magic or not. He does not issue a fatwa permitting the intentional seeking out of a disbelieving sorcerer. This is indicated by his statement: “They only intend reform,” whereas all magic is corruption and disbelief.
