Is the prayer of one who supplicates for his brothers who do not pray not accepted?

It is permissible to supplicate for one who abandons prayer, asking for their guidance and righteousness, and for provision and worldly benefits. Even if one were to say that such a person is a disbeliever, it is not forbidden to supplicate for an original disbeliever in this manner. What is forbidden is to supplicate for their forgiveness and mercy, and similar benefits of the Hereafter, if they die upon disbelief. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, supplicated for the guidance of some disbelievers, such as Daws and the mother of Abu Hurairah, and he supplicated for the people of Ta'if for forgiveness and guidance. Therefore, the permissibility of supplicating for one who abandons prayer is even more fitting.
