What is the ruling on reciting behind the imam in a silent prayer according to the Maliki school of thought?

The Malikis held the view that it is recommended for the worshipper (ma'mum) to recite Surat Al-Fatiha in a silent prayer, and some of them made it obligatory in a loud prayer if he does not hear the Imam's recitation. Ibn Al-Arabi, however, favored the opinion that its recitation is obligatory in a silent prayer and forbidden in a loud prayer when one hears the Imam's recitation.
