Is light an inherent attribute of Allah, like His hearing, sight, hand, and foot, or is His entire Being light?

Light is an intrinsic attribute of Allah Almighty; its modality is known to none but Him, glory be to Him. As Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "There is neither night nor day with your Lord; the Light of the heavens and the earth is from the light of His Face." This is consistent with the Prophet's, peace be upon him, saying: "And I seek refuge in the light of Your Face, by which darknesses are illuminated." Thus, light is an attribute subsisting in Him, glory be to Him, and from it the name 'An-Nur' (The Light) is derived. Light is attributed to Allah Almighty in two ways: by way of attributing an attribute to its possessor, as in "the light of His Face," and by way of attributing an effect to its doer, as in "the Light of the heavens and the earth."
