Is it permissible to trim the beard for someone residing in a foreign country (Japan) to avoid an off-putting appearance?

The default is to grow the beard and the prohibition of shaving it, due to the evidence that commands its growth and preservation, and that beauty lies in its presence, not in its removal. It is recommended to care for the beard, comb it, and clean it.

Scholars differed regarding trimming the beard. Some permitted taking what exceeds a fistful, and what is disheveled and unsightly, while others disliked trimming it absolutely.

If growing the beard alienates people from the preacher, and this conflicts with the interest of calling people to Allah, then the interest of the call to Allah takes precedence because it is greater.
