Why does Allah lead astray the misguided and innovative sects, despite their beautiful words concerning the works of the hearts, their reliance (on God), their asceticism, their asking for guidance in their prayers, and Allah's promise in the Hadith Qudsi, "And My servant shall have what he asked for"?

There is no sin in asking for clarification, and Islam calls for contemplation and deliberation. Guidance and misguidance are distributed among people like sustenance, and no one is compelled to go astray. There are multiple reasons for guidance, including: educational upbringing, mental readiness, overcoming obstinacy, purity of heart from impediments, and staying away from those who lead astray. Desire and fear also have an effect. Supplication is a real cause for guidance, but not the only one, and it must be accompanied by sincere adherence to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and striving to seek beneficial knowledge and act upon it. One must beware of obstacles to guidance, such as abandoning God's command and obeying bad companions. God's mercy is vast, and the ignorant or those who misinterpret are excused as long as they have exerted their utmost effort in seeking the truth.
