Maintenance for relatives is divided into two categories: vertical lineage (parents and children). For their maintenance to be obligatory, it is stipulated that the person for whom maintenance is provided must be poor, the provider of maintenance must be wealthy, and they must share the same religion. The second category is the rest of the relatives. The same conditions apply to them, in addition to the provider of maintenance being an heir to the person for whom maintenance is provided. Therefore, if the father and uncles are able, then maintenance for the grandmother and aunts is obligatory upon them. Spending on relatives is an act of charity and kinship, and it entails a double reward. As for the amount of maintenance, it is determined by the ability of the provider and the need of the recipient.
