Is praying Witr after 'Isha' with the intention of Qiyam al-Layl, then not waking up for Qiyam al-Layl before Fajr, considered as not having performed Qiyam al-Layl? And is placing the hand on the forehead for seeking forgiveness and supplication after the prayer and before tasbihat an innovation?

Performing Qiyam al-Layl (night vigil prayer) can be achieved by praying three rak'ahs after the Isha prayer. And whoever intends to perform Qiyam al-Layl but is overcome by sleep, what he intended will be written down for him. As for placing the hand on the forehead when seeking forgiveness (istighfar) or supplicating (du'a) outside of ruqyah (exorcism), it is not reported, and persisting in it with the belief that it is a Sunnah is an innovation (bid'ah).
