What is required for touching the Mushaf, and what is the difference between purification (tahara) and ritual ablution (wudu), and is wudu not required for touching the Mushaf, but only purification?

An infidel is not permitted to touch the Mus'haf (copy of the Qur'an), due to the impurity of their belief. Also, they are forbidden from approaching the Sacred Mosque (Masjid al-Haram (definition)) due to its honor and purity, and the Mus'haf is even greater and more honorable. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade traveling with the Mus'haf to enemy territory. A Muslim who is in a state of major or minor ritual impurity (hadath (definition) akbar or asghar) is also not permitted to touch the Mus'haf, based on the Almighty's saying: "None touch it except the purified," and it came in the Prophet's letter to the people of Yemen: "None should touch the Qur'an except one who is pure." Thus, the verse and hadith (definition) indicate that none should touch the Qur'an except one who is pure from disbelief, ritual impurity (hadath), and physical impurity (khabath).
