When does a widow's waiting period (iddah) begin, and is she required to restart the iddah from the beginning if she leaves her home without necessity, and what is her sin if she does so?

The waiting period (iddah) for a woman whose husband has passed away begins from the moment of his death. She remains in this state for four months and ten days, based on the Almighty's saying: "And those of you who die and leave wives behind - they, [the wives], shall wait concerning themselves for four months and ten [days]."

However, if she is pregnant, her waiting period ends upon giving birth, as the Almighty says: "And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they deliver their burdens."

A woman observing iddah leaving her home without necessity does not restart the iddah, but she must repent and seek forgiveness.
