It is not permissible for the holder of unlawful usurious gains to benefit from them personally or to use them to defend his wealth. Taking a loan from them is a type of benefit. However, it is permissible for a needy poor person to benefit from them, as mentioned by Imam An-Nawawi. It should be noted that it is not permissible to deposit money in usurious banks except out of necessity, such as for safekeeping when no legitimate alternatives exist.
