Does the use of water remaining on the body after completing ablution (wudu) or ritual bathing (ghusl) affect the validity of the ghusl?

The issue of water previously used for purification and whether it is permissible to use it for another purification is a matter about which scholars have differed. What scholars mean by "Is it permissible to use it?" is whether it can be used to remove minor or major ritual impurity. It does not refer to uses about which there is no disagreement, such as combing hair with water left over from ghusl (ritual bath) after major impurity, as this does not harm or invalidate the ghusl.
