Can impurity be purified merely by the disappearance of its trace?

The majority of scholars hold that impurity can only be removed by pure water. However, some scholars, including Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, are of the view that impurity can be removed by any agent that eliminates its trace, whether it be water, gasoline, or anything else. This is because removing impurity is not an act of worship in itself, but rather a cleansing from a noxious substance. Therefore, once the substance of the impurity and its trace are gone, the place becomes pure, even if it is removed by the sun and wind.
