What should I do to rid myself of envy and wishing for the disappearance of blessings from those around me, even if they are in a worse state than I am, knowing Allah Almighty's saying: "Or do they envy people for what Allah has given them of His bounty?"

Envy is the wish for a blessing to disappear from its rightful owner. The Shari'ah has forbidden it, and it has severe harms for its perpetrator, as it bequeaths lasting sorrow to its owner. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified that envy is among the matters from which no one is safe, and the way out of it is for the envious person not to transgress against the envied, and not to follow envy with injustice. It is recommended to supplicate and cease thinking about what others possess to get rid of envy.
