Would you testify against a Muslim who assaulted a Christian's property, or would you cover for him?

Bearing witness is a communal obligation (fard kifayah), and it may become an individual obligation (fard ayn) upon the witness if they are summoned for it, or if there is a fear of rights being lost by neglecting it. Allah Almighty has commanded the establishment of justice and bearing witness with equity towards everyone, whether relatives or enemies, even if they are disbelievers or innovators; for therein lies the fear of Allah, and for this reason, "the heavens and the earth were established." Thus, justice is obligatory in everything and for everyone, and injustice is not permissible for anyone. One should begin by attending to the needs of those who came first, and a Muslim should not be favored over a disbeliever in judicial proceedings; perhaps this could be a reason for their embracing Islam.
