Is the arrangement of rows in prayer (ṣalāt) the one commonly known today, or is its true arrangement based on the justice known to God, such that a person receives the reward for the row they truly deserve, not the row in which they apparently stand?

The first row, which the Shariah encourages us to be keen on, is the one immediately behind the Imam. One should not be lazy about it under the pretext that the reward of the row is known to Allah, or that the worshipper might attain the reward of the first row from the last row. For the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying, "The best of the rows of men is the first and the worst is the last," is in consideration of proximity to and distance from the Imam.

It is not correct to say that obtaining the first row is not free from stepping over people's necks or reserving places, except in crowded mosques. And whoever transgresses in obtaining the first row is likely to be deprived of its reward.
