What must I do to atone for the sin of seeking help from a fortune-teller to do something that would make a young man become attached to me, after I have repented to Allah?
All praise is due to Allah that you have repented from the sins you committed. You have made grave mistakes through the forbidden relationship and by going to a fortune-teller (cup-reader), because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever has intercourse with a menstruating woman, or with a woman in her anus, or with a soothsayer and believes what he says, has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad." And "Whoever goes to a diviner and asks him about something, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days." And "Indeed, ruqyah (incantations), amulets, and at-Tiwalah (charms for love) are shirk (polytheism)." If at-Tiwalah is shirk, then what about making it to attract a foreign young man who is often drunk? And if you asked the cup-reader to undo magic, this is another mistake, as it is not permissible to undo magic with magic. Rather, it must be undone with the Quran and Prophetic supplications. We hope that you will bear no sin after doing everything in your power, and we ask Allah to accept your repentance, guide you, and rectify your affairs.
